Sergio Pino-Jelcic is originally from Chile. There he received his BS in Mechanical Engineering and worked in a water utility before coming to the US in 2001. A scholarship brought Sergio to UW-Madison where he graduated with a MS in Environmental Engineering. Today, Sergio leads the biological group for the Municipal market at Evoqua Water Technologies. Most of his career has been with Evoqua, which he joined when it was called “USFilter” back then. Sergio has 19 years of experience in the wastewater industry including working in the US, Italy, Spain, and Chile. His areas of interest are: advanced biological treatment, energy conservation, alternative procurement, and marketing and communication. Sergio participates in the water industry through memberships with WEF, its MARC committee, and now representing Evoqua at WWEMA. He is also a percussionist for the Jammin4Water group that plays during WEFTEC for water charity purposes.
