WWEMA has been actively involved in discussions on infrastructure funding legislation in Congress as well as among our water association colleagues over the last nine months of the new Biden Administration. Issues such as increased funding for water programs, support for technologies to help build our infrastructure for the 21st century, and issues around expanded domestic content requirements have been at the forefront of our efforts. The Senate passed the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act on August 10 and while it includes a modest increase in funding for water programs and assistance for low-income households, it also includes greatly expanded domestic content requirements far beyond the American iron and steel provisions that have been applicable for the SRFs and WIFIA program for the last 7 years.

Do you know what’s in the 2,700-plus-page bill and how it will impact your products and your company? WWEMA has already met with all our member companies, drafted a list of questions and concerns, and reached out to both the leadership at EPA and the new Director of the Made in America Office at OMB to begin a dialog. The value of an Association is that we can be the voice for our industry, with input and perspectives from the breadth of our membership. We can lead the conversation and drive outcomes because we have a seat at the table when impacts to the water sector are being discussed and decisions are being made. How can WWEMA help you best serve the needs of your company and utility clients? We invite you to learn more about WWEMA and consider joining us to be part of the dialog.
