Earlier today, EPA released the final rule on the designation of PFOA and PFOS as hazardous substances under CERCLA. The issue is evidently critical for water and wastewater systems, prompting relevant water and wastewater associations to unite in a coalition effort. Their advocacy has led to the introduction of Federal legislation aimed at providing an exemption to mitigate this potential liability. Updates will be provided as legislation progresses.
